There are a number of equestrian centres in the area where horse-riding enthusiasts can enjoy their hobby.

Horse Races |
Horseracing, the sport of kings, and what better place to enjoy it than in Royal Meath. Fairyhouse and Navan hold regular meetings. In early July there is a three day festival held on the hill-top venue at Bellewstown and the most unusual event is the race along the strand at Laytown-the only strand races in Europe .

Cycling |
There are many wonderful discoveries to be made by the cyclists by taking the lesser-used roads around the area from Drogheda , Oldbridge, Newgrange, Slane, and Monasterboice. There are also bicycles for hire for the enthusiast who comes unequipped.

Walking & Hiking |
The walker is spoilt for choice in this beautiful picturesque area. The Slane Town Trail guides the walker through the village of Slane and out the road towards Drogheda to the passage graves at Newgrange and Knowth. There is also a walk known as The Boyne Valley Towpath that takes the visitor a distance of 8km from Navan to Slane along the banks of the River Boyne, parallel with the old canal. There is beautiful wooded scenery and wildlife on this path. There are also forest walks at Littlewood, Slane and Townley Hall.

Canoeing |
Canoeing is a very popular sport on the River Boyne and canoeists can be seen most Sundays at Slane bridge as they negotiate the weir beside the bridge.

| Beaches | Although the coastline is short it has spectacular beaches at Bettystown, Laytown, Mornington and Clogherhead. There you can enjoy, swimming, surfing and water-skiing.
